Adding Telstra Bigpond email on Microsoft Outlook is a quick and easy task that will also enhance the security of your emails. To begin, start Microsoft Outlook on your personal computer. In the upper left corner, you will see the 'File' tab. Click on it and select the 'Add Account' function. In this screen, enter the Bigpond email address, then press Connect. The system will automatically try to configure everything for you. If this step fails, you will need to follow the process where the settings are input manually instead.
For advanced users, choose ‘IMAP’ or ‘POP’ as per your requirements. Opt for IMAP as it gives you the advantage of accessing your emails from different devices, whereas POP only allows downloading the emails to one device. For the incoming mail server for IMAP, use imap.telstra.com, but for POP, use pop.telstra.com. The outgoing mail server (SMTP) address is smtp.telstra.com. You may need to change the port numbers as follows: 993 for IMAP and 995 for POP with SSL ON and 465 or 587 for SMTP. When prompted, provide the complete email address of Bigpond as well as the password, and click ‘Next’ twice and ‘Finish’ twice.
