Washington Area Tennis Association, Rockville

The Washington Area Tennis Association (WATA), based in Washington, DC and Maryland, is a 501c7 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting tennis for individuals aged 18 and above. Prior to the formation of WATA, Richard Gottfried started organizing what were initially World Team Tennis (WTT) leagues in 1991. These leagues have evolved and are now known as Impact Team Tennis (ITT) as of 2023. Additionally, WATA plays a pivotal role in managing several Tennis Leagues in Washington DC, fostering a robust tennis community and providing competitive opportunities for local players.
